For Families not participating in annual Testing
|
States are required by federal law to administer an annual summative assessment to all public school students. In most cases, private schools are exempt from such testing but it is possible that state law will pick up in some situations for private school and homeschool students. Those states offering scholarship funds for payment at a private school will often find such testing requirements to be in place. In some situations, but generally few, there is no effect on the student’s academic progress or grade level based upon performance. Homeschool students are often required by their home state to participate in such testing and report testing results or at least have the results available if requested.
There has been debate on the effectiveness of annual testing but it does serve as a point of accountability both for the school and the student as it relates to personal performance. The objective comparable data from the test does serve important purposes for school improvement goals. NFC Academy offers annual testing using the Stanford 10th Edition Test series. Testing is in April of each year. Parents make the decision of whether to have their children participate in the testing session all from their home. To not test is an option for the parent and all that is necessary to not test is to complete the opt out test form. By completing the form and opting your child out of the annual testing means you take the full responsibility for not completing the annual testing. |
